Hi all,
Anxiously awaiting tomorrow's news. Would anyone from previous years be able to tell me what the wording of the letter will be for an acceptance, deferral, or rejection? or if there is a letter at all? I know this sounds dumb but this would be very comforting!

You’ll get a long page if you’re accepted. There’s no interim so be prepare to see your decision. The deferred and reject letters are much shorter.

“On behalf of the admissions committee, it is my pleasure to offer you admission to the class of 2017.” That’s the magic sentence to look for.

otherwise, you’ll get something more along the lines of “The admissions committee has completed its review of the applications, and I am so sorry to say that I am unable to offer you admission to MIT”

deferral is more like “We have completed our review of your application, and have decided to hold it for further review.”

Those are your first sentences, so watch out. It’s worrying to think that now all I have to do is read the first word or two, and I’ll know!

thanks^ this is good to know.
