Seriously? Rice got an F because they don’t have a core curriculum, just distribution requirements. Thats ridiculous.

Don’t take it to heart. The designers of this list think you’re too ignorant to make choices.

Can anyone figure out the funding stream for this organization?

for one thing, this is heavily funded by the Cheneys and specifically spear-headed by Lynn Cheney. Infer what you will. secondly, Cal , which got an “F”, requires half of what one is “supposed” to learn in college to be completed just to qualify for admission. finally, the methodology of this study has been seriously questioned, as classes that are functionally equivalent to the core subjects evaluated weren’t considered to qualify. Again, to use Cal, a student may elect a class such as “Rhetoric of the Renaissance,” which is functionally a literarily focused, reading comprehension and writing course, doesn’t count under this study’s particular calculus. I’m not advocating USNWR as the gold standard, but let’s get real. Yale, Berkeley and other notoriously esteemed institutions earned an “F.” It’s ridiculous.

Thank goodness top schools pay no attention to the quoted criteria. Students should have already studied most of the material suggested in HS. Why such limited math/science? I’d be prouder of a school that did NOT meet the reqs. One disadvantage of the U of Chicago is its core.
