I'm creating this thread so people can see what others are doing and hopefully can be beneficial to others who have not thought about summer plans as of yet.

Heres the format:

Summer: I will work with a mentor for 8 weeks through SEAP(Science & Engineering Apprenticeship Program).
Location: Naval Research Laboratory(D.C.)

Paid: Yes. $1500 stipend(Not much I know. But hey, its coming from the government/federal taxes !)

Comments: SEAP is fairly competitive to get into but once you're in its a lot of fun. They expect you to do productive work(not filing papers etc.) and I am hoping to create a project for the Intel while I'm there. I will be working in the Remote Testing Division and will be working on computational physics(fun!). My mentor is a nice guy and I am already in love with the facilities.

I'll be working my ass off to pay for college and such. Don't any of you work during the summer?? It seems that all of you do programs and stuff...

Anyways, this probably belongs in the cafe.

Working in a used bookstore. I applied for an internship at the naval base here but got rejected (they mostly take seniors... I'm only a junior.)

Interning at an adoption agency that works specifically with indian reservations
or
working an internship at the city's multi-cultural center
or
just taking classes online agan chilling + studying for the sat again. <-- most probable

I'm attending a summer program that is free, but unlike something like NASA SHARP, it does not pay. It's pretty competitive to get into, and indirectly I may be getting paid since I can complete a project for STS/Siemens/ISEF there that hopefully will do well. crosses fingers

Summer: I will spend my 2nd consecutive summer teaching Physics to low-income hispanic students in a summercamp/summer school environment. Hopefully I'll be department chair of the science dept. The program is called the Breakthrough Collaborative.
Location: San Jose, CA.

^_^ Studying, chatting on the computer, running, taking Tennis lessons, driving, hhmmmmmm and reading summer reading books, and hhmm checking out colleges. :]

1.) Research at Children's Hoispital (hopefully bio genetics)
2.) Math stuff
3.) Wondering if I should even consider considering to get off the couch
