**WHAT Will You Be Doing This Summer?**

:/ Lots of people are doing programs and stuff. --; Gee I feel I'm the laziest person on this thread. >/

2 or 3 classes at the local community college, a job to save up some money, borrow some books on economics/psychological theory from the local library, read a few stories here and there, and physical exercise... nothing fancy

UC San Fran biomedical research

Nasa Sharp:) :) :)

Summer: I will get together more often with my band (in which I am the rhythm guitarist and leader).....like 5 times a week to practice. I plan on recording the debut album and possibly tour Canada.

Paid: We have arranged some paid gigs, but the gig money will go towards the recording studio fee, which is around $90 an hour and we will need to spend about 10 hours in there for an album.

Tennessee Governor's Schools for the Sciences then a couple classes

How do you get involved with these internships? How do you even hear about them?

REAP: Research Engineering and Apprenticeship Program, doing some organic chem research at Macalester, I get a $1200 stipend (half goes to my mentor) so excited!

I'll be attending Summer Ventures at East Carolina University for Physics and Chemistry. That will last about 4 weeks, where I do research and have to present it, hopefully use it for future competitions.

I'll also be doing some Community Service at the the Library (school requirement).

I'll be training for XC and track, practice my instruments, visit some colleges, and relax with the rest of the time I get.

Also I'll be READING THE NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK!!!!!!!!!

o.o Whoaaa...xD Hehehe I think I have to compete someone against in XC.

Naval Academy Summer Seminar

West Point Summer Seminar

Looking at colleges

Studying for Sat and Sat II's

Doing my summer reading

Nothing.

Some relatives are visiting in June, so we'll be taking a few short road trips. I'm planning to spend time with my family and friends before heading off to college. I was about to get a summer job, but the fact that I'll be gone most of June may be a bad thing to prospective employers.

i have a friend who's doing mosp (finished in top 12 for usamo) and then rsi @mit. one crazy kid i tell you.

Naval summer seminar
the sca

North Carolina for a week for church camp
Costa Rica for 10 days
Boston for 2 weeks (visiting colleges and such)
Service camp for a week (roofing houses of needy people)
Band Camp

Should be a good summer.

Going back to California to visit my old friends- W000T

FBLA Nationals- Cancelled

CYLC Counselor

VBS Coordinator

Does anyone know any summer programs whose deadlines ARENT due yet? Good science programs especially or summer college programs

I applied for one camp and got rejected. NOw my summer is pretty much wasted unless I find something to do. But apparently, many of the camps I wanted to go to have due deadlines.

ANd where can I get an internship?

Is NASA SHARP or MITES competitive to get into?

NSLC national student leadership conference in DC for engineering....prolly a waste of money......Acadec crap speech, resource guide stupid A nazi coaches......Dance classes maybe....no time for a job

FBLA nationals!

Then I'm going to either work at a summer camp as a counselor, work at some other place, or intern.

gonna stay home. Gonna work a bit for my rents ( kinda feeel bad cuz during work have been distracted b/c of AP's), try to do a computer program for my physics teacher, and take a look at a couple of books, renaissance history, and anatomoy and physiology (finally, a topic I enjoy!) for academic decathalon. Maybe some community service or something. maybe church. and read a lot of books 4 fun

That won't be the focus of my summer though. I know I am of low academic calibur and need to improve my mind if I wish to learn as much as I want to. What I really want to do is learn how to improve my critcal thinking and problem solving skills. It's incredibly furstrating how I have to be shown how to do problems in physics when all the information I need is right on the paper.

Does anyone know of a good book for that? I heard of the Art of Problem Solving on this forum. would that be worth looking at?
