One thing that you wish you had Done...Wow-IDK Maybe I should have tried to take the ACT more than one time. I just couldn't force myself to sit through that torture again lol...

Whether You are Going to Status Check Online--Def. online - I've already got the whole scene played out in my head. I don't want anyone in the room, and I'd actually like no one to know...Hopefully everyone will forget why March 29th is so important to me.

What will you do if you are Accepted - I try not to think about it so that I don't get excited, BUT I'll probably run around the house a few times and then pass out from being shocked and amazed. Then I will refresh the page 50 times to make sure that it's actually true and I didn't imagine it. And when I go to my small school who's never had any Ivy acceptances or maybe even any applicants, I'll try to keep it quiet, but it won't last too long lol...

Waitlisted - I'll still be thrilled, and I'll immediately start typing a letter to Yale about how I'm honored to even be waitlisted, and I'll tell them I will def. attend if I have the opportunity.

Rejected - Well I'll be crushed even though I'm expecting it. Rejection hurts even if you are expecting it so I'll continue checking the other admit sites to see where I was accepted to.

One thing that you wish you had done...
studied more/done better on the ACT and my SAT IIs

Whether You are Going to Status Check Online (email)
I'd rather just wait and get my decision in the mail, beacuse if I check it online and get rejected, I get the same slap in the face a couple of days later in the mail.

Accepted: be very excited, and have some tough decisions to make

Waitlisted: be very excited, but not get my hopes up too much

Rejected: be disappointed, of course, but know that I have my choice of other colleges to go to, all of which will give me a good education.

One thing that you wish you had done...
Done a better job shaping my Common App

Whether You are Going to Status Check Online (email)
Are you joking me? I will be refreshing all my college decision pages madly on March 28 and 29 :)

Accepted: Um, go to Yale? Lol. Unless I got into Stanford, in which case, I'd go to Stanford. And watch the pigs fly.

Waitlisted: Depends where else I get in. If I don't get into Princeton, Harvard, or Stanford either, I'd stay on the waitlist but prepare to go to my backup.

Rejected: Depends where else I get in. I'm expecting this outcome anyway since I was deferred and didn't do anything to fix my app.

Accepted: Just be like, "Cool, I got into Yale"
Waitlisted: Eh.. Whatever.
Denied: Oh well, didn't think I'd get in anyway. Good thing it wasn't one of my top four choices. Then I'll go watch TV.

One thing that you wish you had Done... realized that I wanted to apply to an Ivy years before instead of a month before and actually tried on standardized tests (my only downfall)

Whether You are Going to Status Check Online (email)
I really want to try to wait for the mail because if I get rejected online, I have to be even more depressed opening up a very sad but likely letter.

and.... What will you do if you are...

Accepted
+heart attack+ I won't. Kids from my school don't have a chance to go to Yale, I haven't been priveleged and helped... But I think I will scream like Olive on Little Miss Sunshine
Waitlisted
Have a party... a waitlist is a win for me!

Rejected
Be sad, but I know its coming, I just have to accept it.

Accepted: My mouth would drop, I'd scream "HOLY ***," and I'd probably fall of my chair.
Waitlisted: I'd just shrug and pray I got into one of my other schools.
Denied: *points to the above

"One thing that you wish you had done...
studied more/done better on the ACT and my SAT IIs"

It would be terribly unlikely that this one factor would have pushed you in or left you out. plus or minus a few points here and there just isn't all that. Your recs, your statement and your transcript are the most weighty things in your file.

I'm an alum (admitted in days before online notification). I rec'd my "big envelope" from another Ivy on a Thursday, I remember -- it was a very exciting time. Yale's admit package arrived that Friday, I wasn't as ecstatic -- but extremely happy as Yale was my 1st choice. Good luck, all.

Accepted- Cry about not being able to attend
Waitlisted- Cry about not being able to attend
Rejected- Cry about not being able to attend

Well, I'm not really going to cry, but I am going to be lamenting a lot because my parents can't afford Yale even though we have a plenty big enough EFC. My dad is quitting his job and my mom is worried about job security, so we're financially uncertain and my parents only plan on committing 10-12k per year, so that puts Yale out of my price range. I'll either go to Rollins (if I get merit aid) or UF, which are both fine schools so I won't be too sad I guess.

I do want to attend accepted students days and visit though, just to see what could have been.

erhswimming: Yale has tremendously generous financial aid. If they accept you, speak to them frankly about your situation. Where I live, the single most determining factor in admitted students not accepting Yale are full ride scholarships to a fantastic state school. However, if you really feel Yale is the best fit for you, spk to the FA ofc. They'll do anything reasonable to get you there. My father was a cook and my mother a waitress -- Yale got me there. That's why I give back now.

I wish I hadn't taken such a difficult courseload first semester of senior year.

I'll be checking online.

Accepted - scream, cry, rejoice; then check the rest of my decisions. go out for dinner. sneak out and party all night. perhaps cut school on the 30th.
Waitlisted - ignore it and check the rest of my decisions.
Rejected - same as above.

I'm still trying to decide the order in which I'll check my decisions. I have to login to three and receive three emails within a couple hours.

Accepted- I wouldn't go to school the following day
Waitlisted- Assume I got rejected
Rejected- I remind myself that U of T is still a great school
