What Windows 8 laptop should I get for college 2013-2014?

Any recommendation?

Well, what are you looking for in a laptop? Large keyboard? Screen? There are so many to choose from.

screen must be 15 or larger

Get the Dell Ultrabook

Personally I really like Lenovo ThinkPads.

I look like last month and I think it was the Lenovo thinkpads or was it ideapads  that caught my attention.

@kypdurron: I do have a favoritism toward the Dell’s stuffs but that is much too small and light for me. I want something biggest and heavier.

Hmmm IdeaPads are quite nice too.
They’re slightly cheaper and more geared towards the average consumer compared to the ThinkPads. They have better speakers, a glossy screen (ThinkPads have a matte screen, which some people prefer, while others like the glossy screen), and are better for watching videos or gaming.

ThinkPads are more geared towards a “businessy” use. They’re a lot more durable (dropped mine off the ground a couple of times…oops?), have really nice keyboard (I’m not too familiar with the IdeaPad keyboards), and have more screen-resolution upgrade options. But they cost more too.

What’s your budget?

$1200 or less

Need more people recommendations.

I too am in process of searching for a new computer. I think I’m going to get the Lenovo Ideapad U410. It’s a Windows 8 with a touchscreen. I really like it.

Interesting choice. Though I am not a fan of the lighter laptops or “ultrabooks”. I need some wiegth on my laptop.

Weight? Well maybe speed. Asus has great third generation i7 laptops with great graphics for around $1000.

HP Envy Spectre XT
If you can afford it, get the upgraded RAM. Since you want Windows 8, make sure you get a laptop with a touch screen. The new XT has one, and I think it’s the best Windows 8 laptop available. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga or Microsoft Surface Pro could be more intriguing options.

Surface has a problem in case you want a “laptop”, it needs a solid surface ( hence the name) to be on because it is quite unstable. I believe that a good tablet an a good keyboard can replace a laptop ( ipad, galaxy note2) if you use a cloud type storage system and have a good computer at home for heavy duty work.

You don’t even need a laptop, just keep a desktop and monitor in your backpack and put a generator in a rolling suitcase, then you’re all set. If you already have a generator then you save money and you have a much more powerful computer as well.

Lol @blake

I think is a great idea; it should have enough weight.

Mine came today.

On the other hand the Envy specs is looking good :stuck_out_tongue:

How is it working for you Muta?
