What winter coat should I get?

Can someone please tell me some good brands of winter coats that will keep me warm during the Wisconsin winter? I am from the east coast and something tells me that my winter coat is nowhere near warm enough. Thanks!!

The North Face brand is very popular here.

north face ftw!

I’m getting a new down coat rated around -20 F.

There are a few days where the super coat does come in handy but for most days they are too hot/bulky when walking. I got around fine 98% of the time with a good light down jacket good to 0. An extra layers will get you through the really cold days.

Our D got there and realized her “New Jersey sufficient” North Face would not cut it long term. My husband took her to the North Face store and they helped her get one that was NOT their top of the line warmest or waterproof, they suggested like number 3 and just water resistant. She really wanted the hood and plus room for a hoodie under. The keys are layering and accessories (the right gloves/mittens, face protection, boots, hat, socks and scarf).
