What would a school like cornell think of my SAT scores

So my SAT break down is as follows:

M 780
CR 670(atleast, I don’t have to take the TOEFL)
W 650

Am I a competitive applicant for cornell?

English is my second language. I am an international applicant from ethiopia( a country located is east africa). Will they take that into consideration is assessing my CR and W scores?

PS. I a have a solid academic performance.(4.0 gpa)

A 2100 would be a pretty good score (just a little below average) in their eyes; however, Cornell does value the CR+M score more than the Writing Score, so in that sense, you would be under the average. However, being an international student and a URM, I think you definitely have a shot at admittance. Good luck!

I don’t think an international student can be a URM since the designation is under-represented in the college relative to the proportion in the US.

@jackisawesome International students do not get hook advantages

International can help provided you or your family can fund most of if not all the cost of attendance without financial aid. It can also help if you are the only one or one of the few from your country to apply. Also SAT scores are not end-all-be-all. I know plenty of kids in my class who didn’t get above a 2100, but this isn’t to say the majority haven’t.

Thank you for the response

According to this http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Profile2015-Freshman-update-IRP-web.pdf

I think my (CR+W) scores are in the competitive range(mid-50’s overall). But, since my financial situation is severely lacking, my chances are probably very low.

To be a competitive applicant w/o a good hook, you need to be at the 75th percentile. Not to say that you will not be admitted.

Would it be correct to assume that if I don’t get an invitation for the diversity program around Mid-march, that I am rejected?
