I was hoping to get help because I’ve been back and forth trying to decide if I should double major or double minor (considering I’ve heard minors have no value really…?) and I’m torn. I know I want to major in communications because it covers a majority of my interests. However, I want to get more of a well-rounded education and expand my potential career path a little more. I’m really considering minoring in poli sci, but I’ve heard various opinions on minors, some saying minors are pretty much worthless and others saying it made them feel like they got a more balanced education. Any other majors/minors that would be a good pairing with communications?
What job are you trying to go into with your communications degree?
You can expand your career path a little by taking classes in other areas and expanding your skill set - like learning to program, do statistical analysis, speak another language or do technical writing. You don’t have to double major to do any of that; just take additional classes in the appropriate departments. My opinion is that if you don’t have a strong interest in something else, don’t double major - just take classes that do interest you and help you learn skills.
