Ok, so I am applying to Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Choate, SPS, Hotchkiss, Kent, Pomfret, and the Lawrenceville School and I really want to know my chances of getting into any of these schools because I am really stressed and nervous about it.
• My grades were generally quite good and I had a 4.4 GPA (out of 5.0) for the first quarter. Throughout middle school, I had all A’s except for one B in Algebra last year in Eight Grade.
• I scored around an 88th percentile or 2229 on the SSAT
• My interviews went quite well, especially Exeter and Deerfield
• I believe my essays were quite good as I wrote about subjects deep to me and tried to make myself stand out.
• I believe that my extracurriculars are strong, I did mostly crew, for which I am the coxswain and captain of my team, and writing and for the latter, I won a national poetry contest. I also do coding (for which I won a school-wide award for), cross country, and was a reporter for my school newspapers. Additionally, I contacted each of the schools rowing coaches telling them I am applying and am interested in their programs. I’m on good terms with the Deerfield coach and the Exeter coach even told me that he has placed a letter of support in my application file and that I’m on his list crew recruits.
• For crew, I also created a blog for my team to help us improve our rowing abilities and such and left a link in the multimedia section of the application form.
• My recommendations were blind but I believe that I had a great recommendation from my English teacher and rowing coach and good/decent ones from my Geometry teacher and Guidance Counselor.
• I am a 14-year-old, Indian male (don’t know if this will count as a hook, probably not) applying for 9th grade and am currently in 9th grade at my local public school.
•Also, I’m applying for financial aid and I am technically an international student who has lived in the USA for practically my entire life (this is what’s worrying me out the most ??).
Thanks in advance for all those who reply.
