What would be the average tuition in these colleges left

After I can pay 15000usd$ and get merit scholarships. The college datas are really confusing. Iam an International High School Student and my family income is 20000$. And also please suggest some good Comp Sci colleges which are not mentioned here and have good financial aid.

Colleges - CMU, UCB, UoT, UCLA, UW, UT Austin, UBC, UWaterloo,Caltech, Columbia ,UIUC, Cornell, NYU, Georgia , Maryland ,McGill , Massachustes Amherst, Michigan , Southern California.

I know they are too many just tell the ones in which I will be left with a debt of around max 40000$ after 4 years
Thanks

Wait, your family income is $20,000 per year, and you can pay $15,000 per year in tuition?

Those numbers do not add up.

Agreed. If your family income is $20,000 a year…where is $15,000 a year for college going to come from?

And even with a $15,000 a year contribution from your family, the remaining costs to attend the above schools will be in the $40,000 a year range.

ACT/SAT/GPA?

CMU,

UCB, NO AID

UoT,

UCLA, NO AID

UW, NO AID

UT Austin, NO AID

UBC,

UWaterloo,

Caltech,

Columbia ,

UIUC, NO AID

Cornell,

NYU, LITTLE NO AID

Georgia , NO AID

Maryland , NO AID

McGill ,

Massachustes Amherst, NO AID

Michigan , LITTLE/NO AID

Southern California. LITTLE/ NO AID

Most of your schools give LITTLE OR NO AID TO INT’LS.

HOW did you come up with this list? If you need so much aid, why would you include so many that give NO AID or TINY AID to int’ls???

Where is the $15k per year coming from if your family only earns $20k??? Is that under the table unreported money?

@happymomof1 can you give this student information about who to contact for help?

From reading the OP’s other threads, it sounds like he is currently a HS junior.

To @Aaryaman123 you need a much better balanced list of schools than the one you put on this…and your other thread.

The top schools you are interested in applying to accept about 5% of international applicants. As noted by mom2, many either give limited aid to international students…or none at all.

In addition there are some that are need aware for admissions, which means your ability to pay will be considered when your application for admission is reviewed.

Are there no colleges in your country that would be affordable…where you could get a bachelors degree?

What country are you from?

What are your test scores and GPA?

how can your family pay $15k per year if they only earn $20lk

Based on his username, he is very very likely Indo-Iranian. Based on what he said in another post about “playing on Steam”, I think he is Indian, since that software is not available to Iranians, and I think Afghans and Pakis. That is just my guess though.
@Aaryaman123 Do you have an outside $15000 scholarship? How are you going to get $40K in loans as an int’l? Ivy league schools only give need-based aid, and northeastern and Californian public schools rarely give scholarships to int’ls.

I am super curious what about a popular site where you can buy video games suggests nationality.

@bodangles I provided the reason. If he is in fact Indo-Iranian, (I.E, my first guess being true), then he can not be Iranian, as we can not play on Steam. If my information about Afghanistan and Pakistan is correct, then he can only be Nepali, Bengali or Indian. ُSince India is more populous than both, I would rather put my money on India in the absence of any other information.
(My general mentality about everything is “better try and have a chance to win, then do not try and definitely lose”. So I just made the most probable guess. I am sorry if that was offensive.)

@Aaryaman123 Cornell only offers need based aid, and applying for aid reduces your chances of admission. Their COA is $65,494
Virginia’s COA is $50K, and you can only apply for their Merit scholarships if you are nominated by an affiliated high school.
USC has some scholarships that are int’l only. But competition for them is very intense, and I think they require some EC commitments, which you said you lacked.
Caltech and Columbia operate in the same way as Cornell.
If you need a lot of merit, look at these websites :
competitivefulltuition.yolasite.com
automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com
UofA is known for a very good Honors college, and they are generous with Merit Aid (If you have the stats). since you are applying next year, try and meet their deadlines. It is also well known enough to not cause trouble in the visa process.

@Soheils Not offensive! I read the second guess as separate from the first and seriously just wanted to know the method behind determining any info from use of Steam, as I couldn’t think of how that would work. Your logic makes sense to me. :stuck_out_tongue:

@bodangles That was what I thought.
Honestly, I expected people to question my first conclusion.
Currently, I am searching for anything else that may be a more conclusive proof
Another bit of info may be that he does not always use the Definitive Article. Hindi and Persian lack definitive articles, unlike Bengali. Since I have ruled out Persian, Indian is a logical choice. ( And no, I have nothing better to do. I am an Iranian Senior, with four day weekends, whose college process is over. I am bored out of my mind)
OP, sorry for the digression.

@Aaryaman123 - If you haven’t already done so, you need to read through everything at https://educationusa.state.gov/ Then contact the counselors at the advising center closest to where you live: https://educationusa.state.gov/find-advising-center They will be able to tell you where students like you have been accepted in recent years, and whether or not those students got enough financial aid.

Wow thats a hell lot of responses , thanks guys. Well for the information Im an Indian , SAT score is 2300 ,I have to give Sat II this year. I shortlisted these colleges from QS Univeristies .The 15000$ thing per year would be paid from selling some assets. Actually I would really love to be in UCLA or UCB for CS but dont know if I would be able to pay the debt or not after college.Im ready to do part time work or something.
SO GUYSS What do you think , Is it practical to do the degrees even when I’ll get a debt of I guess 100,000$ probably maybe more, Would I be able to pay that soon.

@mom2collegekids that aid list is really helpful , thanks

Why didn’t I put money on this? :stuck_out_tongue:
@Aaryaman123 how do you intend to get $100k in debt? Do you have cosigners?

I think getting a loan is also an issue coz Soheils said How are you going to get $40K in loans as an int’l?

@Aaryaman123 yes, as I said, foreigners can not get loans easily.
