What would happen if you can't graduate in 4 years?

Do you get kicked out, or do you get extra time to finish your degree?

I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t kick you out, I didn’t look this up for Columbia specifically, but most schools let you stay until you finish your degree. Thats why guide books publish 4 and 6 year graduation rates.

You take a super-senior year. A dozen or so people do this every year.

Sidebar: It’s not possible if you’re a transfer. They insist you finish in the allocated time. At least that’s what it says in my package.

They “insist”? They will definitely give you the extra time to finish your degree. You do pay them 50k a year, that’s not just fun and games.

Aren’t you required to graduate in 9 semesters?

Both people I know who didn’t graduate in 8 graduated in 9, so it’s possible you’re right.
