What would happen if

You we're accepted to a university as a high school graduate and then they find out that your really a transfer from another university. They ask for a final transcript but they never really get it, What will they do? Kick you out or just not give you credit for the classes you took at the other university?

I think they would kick you out. They are totally different processes (and chances) for entry.

They've thrown people out for smaller lies. And that's what this is - a lie, since the applications ask you to list all other colleges you've attended. And it's pretty hard to hide the fact that your high school graduation date is earlier than your application year. You'll have to explain what you were doing during that year.

you would be in trouble -- you would lose your standing at the university and would lose any credits you had earned plus you would be responsible to repaying any financial aid that had been awarded to you.

It isn't a good idea -- there is a national clearing house for college enrollement and colleges can see if a student has been previously enrolled in a school. Financial aid can also trip you up -- you have a record of previous financial aid. Many times the school doesn't do this "verification" until after a student has enrolled and sometimes they wait and do it when you file for graduation -- so you could have your degree rescinded because of the lie.

I'm not talking about not telling them. Thats not the issue. Im talking about them not ever getting the final transcript.

First of all, the school is not going to contact you for the final transcript, they are going to contact the guidance department at the high school. Considering that any GC worth their salt is not going to lose their credibility with the college or their job on an ethics violation, the will most likely report to the school your actual date of graduation. They will also most likely come out that you matriculated at another school.

stef is also correct when the financial aid office gets a hold of yoru stuff. if you received any federal or state aid and you are attending school in that state, it is going to come out.

the net-net is:

IT does not matter, it will still be considered misrepresentation and once the school finds out, they can and will expel you from to school. A word of advice, don't go into law or anything that requires a background check because it will all certainly come out.

so what you mean is that when you apply, you will list the college that you attend and send the transcript to date (so it wouldn't include the classes that haven't finished) and then you will fail to have the final transcript sent to the school you are attending.

I guess what confused me is that you said something about applying as a high school graduate and then they would find out you were a university transfer.

Are you applying as a transfer student? or are the college classes you are taking dual enrollment classes?

In the case where you are honest in where you are attending school, including all college classes -- but you fail to have your final transcript sent -- your school will require those records when you file an "intent to graduate". Complete records are required for final graduation.

sybbie719, I have noooooo clue what your talking about.

Lol the transcipt isnt coming from a high school. And I'm not a criminal that I can't get a background check.

I didn't report to my current university when I applied to that I attended another in-state university (not on purpose) somehow they found out and my other school sent my current school my transcripts but now they are in need of my final transcipts that I haven't sent. I didn't get "expelled" I didnt get my application pooled, I didn't get anything but a phone call from my admission officer telling me that she got my transcipts and she was going to change my file from a freshmen student to a transfer student.

I didn't do it on purpose, and I had no reason to I got really good grades. Two A's and two B's.

I was asking what would happen if I didnt send in my transcipt. Thats what Im asking you guys, not whats will happen if I dont tell them. Nothing happened!

bbecker -- when you file an intent to graduate, you file will be incomplete without all transcripts from schools you attended. The intent to graduate (or your school may call it something else) is generally done toward the end of semester before you expect to graduate. This is when they review your transcript, paperwork, etc to make sure that everything is in order for graduation. Without the missing transcript, you won't graduate.
