What would help a student get into TCNJ???

I am planning on applying to TCNJ and I obviously would really love to get in. I was wondering if there were some specifics I could have that would help my chances?

Any knowledge would be great!!!

Aside from good grades and SAT’s, TCNJ is big on extra-curriculars. I’m a current junior, lemme know if you have any other q’s

hi thanks!
would the fact that I haven’t taken AP classes affect my chances of getting into TCNJ?

I can’t really say for sure. I don’t think it would hurt that much honestly. By extra-curriculars I meant like school clubs, volunteer experience, special talents. Stuff like that can really make you stand out, and it can make up for any minor deficiencies in your application like no AP’s.

okay !
hopefully i have enough ECs!
i play soccer(V 4 years) and golf(JV 2 years)
im also in a few clubs
and i volunteer at the library
i take golf lessons for 3 years outside of school as well as weight training
and i the fall i plan on getting accepted into NHS

im afraid thats not enough… the sports take up so much of my time, i don’t think i have enough to put on my resume

Personally, I think that’s enough. I’m a firm believer in applying the “quality over quantity” rule when it comes to ECs. Colleges prefer to see passion and dedication to a select few activities rather than a plethora of meaningless resume boosters. NHS definitely looks good and you successfully balance academics and sports (which, as you stated, DO take up a lot of time).

haha thanks!

i was REALLY hoping that would be good enough lol

Perfect SATs and GPA, President of your class, captain of a few varsity sports teams, win a few national math or science competitions, work full time and do some volunteer work at some foreign country, having a few research publications would help.

jkjk

But seriously, there isn’t any fixed formula. Just do your best in class, prepare well for your SATs, and devote time on activities you truly enjoy (quality over quantity as hazeleyes said). Take AP classes if you like the subject material and think you can handle it. You won’t have any regrets if you try your best no matter if you get accepted into TCNJ or not :)
