IN SUMMARY: I should finish high school with around 3.8 UW GPA, but I'll do what ever I can to prevent that from happening. If I go down in flames, then I'll end up with a 3.7 UW.

*class rank UW right now = 38/515. Weighted = 30/515 (does UCB look at weighted rank at all?)

*Right now I get about a 1920-2050 on the SAT, 28-30 on ACT according to Practice Tests for SAT, and the PLAN (it's like the PSAT for SAT except the ACT version) on ACT, but I'm shooting for at least a 2100 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT. Don't count on me getting a 2100 or a 32 because its not going to happen as far as I can tell right now

I know right now I won't get into UCB, but do I need to work on my GPA or ACT score more at the moment? PS: I'm applying to CONS (college of natural resources) as a molecular biology major in case that matters in any way.

Also, In case I change my mind about molecular biology and instead want to major in mathematics or physics (not engineering), how easy would it be to transfer into LAS? In case I feel like playing the system a bit, would I be able to transfer from the forestry program to LAS, because I understand that forestry is easy, and since I'm OOS, I don't want to risk not getting in, even though I have no interest whatsoever in forestry?

Thanks

your stats are not bad. you would be a match if you were in-state.

just raise the SAT's and your good, I think.

I think your GPA is great and I think if you can raise your SAT's a little bit you could get in. But is important to note that the essay portion of the berkeley application is very important and is a way to make you stand out. I would try to find some EC's that are different and unique because your EC's right now are fairly standard for all berkeley applicants.
It is easy to transfer into the college of L&S.

yeah I guess my ECs are fairly similar to many berkeley hopefuls because they're the types that nerds join (ie math and science club), but I've devoted a lot of time to science club and it has been a big part of my high school career. So if I write a passionate, well-thought out essay on that, could that do the trick, or will the homogenous nature of it screw me over anyways?

Also, how much is a few extra points on the SAT? Like a few thousand points because there's no way I'm getting in, or a couple hundred? Also, what should I shoot for on the ACT?
