Hi, I'm a highschool senior and I have a 4.12 weighted GPA, but my counselor does not know my unweighted GPA. Does anyone know approximately what my unweighted GPA would be? There doesn't seem to be a formula just because we all take such different classes. I have taken mostly AP's and honors classes by the way, except for classes that are not offered as Honors or AP. Thank you!

A=4
B=3..

A+B=3.5
A+A+A+B=3.75
simple really

The whole point of unweighted is that it's blind to what classes you took. AznPwyd has the standard formula correct. Add up your total points, using the A = 4, B = 3, etc, scale, then divide by the total number of classes you took.

Weighting depends on how your school weights APs, honors or accelerated courses.

There may be 3 or 4 differen weights depending on how your school does it.

So, for instance, if your school weights AP exams 10% more than a regular track class, if you get a 97, it would translate into a 106.7. Thus, you get weighted averages larger than 100, 4.0, etc.

It really depends on your school. For your GC to tell you he/she does not know (or can not figure it out) makes no sense to me.

Good luck.
