If there's any other factors that might help in judging me let me know because I can't really think of them off the top of my head.

I don't want to out of state (Ohio) for public schools because that's just way too much $ that I can't afford. So if it's out of state, it's going to be private, hopefully with good financial aid and with engineering

This is an unreasonable question. Where do you live? What type of school do you want to attend?

Look again. Edited.

Very few private colleges have good aid. In general, you need to be able to get into top schools for good aid or aim for merit aid at schools you have high stats for.

What is your EFC?

That’s still a very tough question to answer. Research universities have engineering schools, and well, most of the best engineering schools are public schools not in ohio.

RPI is good, and The Ohio State University (I just love saying “The”) is a very good school for engineering. Then there’s case western, Lehigh. However, I don’t know what these school’s financial aid packages look like.

EFC is hard to say. We were able to afford 12 a year for Cleveland State for my brother but that was getting hard towards the end. So not a whole lot more I assume. And The OSU is definitely a possibility I’m just worried it might be a little too big.

Come to think of it, after taking a look at it, LeHigh seems interesting too… As for Case, I think it might be a little too close to home. I would prefer to go away for college.

Bucknell would be a good option in my opinion…great engineering program…southern private university…loves (literally loves) people with brains and an aptitude in sports. I don’t know how generous their financial aid though

Bucknell is a great engineering school and has very good need based aid. Collegeboard shows 95% of need met with 70% of that need “free money”. Not really southern though unless you count south of New York as “southern”. Very pretty, rural area near the Susquehanna River. If you want something urban with lots of night life it may not be the place for you though. You need to try to determine what kind of school you want.

Your EFC is not really related to what your parents can afford. Use one of the many EFC calculators available to estimate what your official EFC will be.

I don’t know how good Miami Univerity of Ohio’s Engineering is, but its much smaller than tOSU and as a school is about equal in academic rep.

Yes, figure out your EFC before constructing your list, it will heavily impact what is possible. Calculators are everywhere from this site to College Board to school web sites.

Enough about money for now. Would say Lehigh or RPI or Bucknell look like good fits (I’m really interested in Lehigh) for me based on stats alone?

Lehigh and Bucknell have very similar middle 50% scores and you are at the low end of that for reading and below for math. They both meet a very high percentage of need with Bucknell giving more in scholarships and grants. I think you would improve your chances if you were to take SAT again and get the scores up. What is your class rank? At Lehigh 93% are in the top 10%. And, as much as you don’t want to think about it, money is a big factor. Go take 10 minutes and do an EFC calculator.

What about ACT? Does Lehigh prefer SAT? That’s the feeling I’m kind of getting from them. As for class rank, I’m a little low thanks to a horrible freshmen year (2.2-2.7). And I would gladly do an EFC calculator I just don’t know what any of the information to put into that would be. I was probably just going to wait to figure that out until I did the FAFSA

For Lehigh:
SAT & ACT Policies
For admission decisions:
Required: SAT Reasoning Test or ACT
If submitting ACT, the writing section is required
Recommended: SAT Subject Tests

What would probably better increase my chances? Retaking SAT and getting high 600s low 700s on reading and writing or retaking the ACT and getting say… a 32? By the way, I do plan on taking SAT IIs.
