I am a junior and hope for hyps. My school offers no AP classes or Honors classes, only regular ones. This is my first year to take any AP exams and they will be in psychology and biology (obviously I have to self-study for them). I couldn't add any more because I will be taking three subject tests and the Sat1 all this year and I have a lot of material that still needs to be covered. Next year though I plan on taking 3 different ap exams. What will the colleges think of me? I will only be able to give them the ap scores of two tests. Will that look too weak compared to the other kids? Also, how can I prove to colleges I will be taking three AP tests in senior year since applications will be of coure sent way before I take the exam. Do I just say that I self-studied and will take them? Since there aren't any advacned courses at my shcool my guidence councler will be foreced to checked that I have taken the hardest courses available right?

Your school report, which will be sent along with your transcript, will most probably explain that your school does not offer AP/Honors courses.

You'll probably look pretty good, actually. You're taking it upon yourself to learn the material and study for the APs. They'll see you school doesn't offer Honors/AP and you can explain it in the Extra Info section. You'll be fine. Just make sure you're studying for everything, don't let your SATs slip because of studying for AP.

pink33837, I am in EXACTLY the same situation as you. Everything that I've heard has been only positive, stating that as long as you and/or your school's statement explains the lack of honors/ap classes, you will look extra impressive not the opposite. I'm definitely planning on writing something about this in one of my personal statement/extra info. type things. Good Luck! :)

Schools dont compare you to other kids in the country as much a they do to your own school. Youll look amazing if you are in a school with no APs and still managed to do well on a few tests.
