Everyone has high standards here. But what would you consider a good score for your friend or for someone going to a normal state school in their state. In my school people think 18s are good and hope to get that. While others think a 24 is got or anything from 20 up. While here it's like anything lower than a 32 is a retake. What is your opinion? I think a 20+ is good, unless you are aiming higher for a school.

Oh, around 37.

I think a 24 is good for an average student, but my personal goal is a 30, and I would be very dissapointed with anything below a 27 or 28.

I consider myself average at the moment, but I’m shooting for way above average scores on the SAT and ACT and close to a 5.0 GPA in high school Junior/Senior Year. My goals are 2250 SAT, 32.5 ACT

Yah becuase I took it once with no prep and got a 24, I consider myself an average student but I do think I’m smart. If I studied and learned about timing better I would have got 28+ no doubt. But a 24 was good enough for my state school I wanted to get into.

The average score is a 21. So around there would be good for an average student.

(What state?) I think for a state school, at least in New York, you should aim for anything 25+. I mean, there are also different caliber state schools but that would be a good range for all state schools. I don’t know about the people in your school but an 18…good? (That’s horrible) A 22 and up should be alright but a 25+ is basically guaranteeing your ACT is within the range. (for most state schools)

Georgia State, and I just checked my status of my application and I got accepted. YES!!

haha…AWESOME!..a Cinderella story!..what school!

EDIT: lol…i missed it!..and well, now you can say, who the hell cares about ACT’s?..lol

Or say what i say…when taking a test/quiz/exam…“Um…excuse me but i don’t wish to take this test,…why?.. i got into _______” :D

I just put it lol. Georgia State University. But yah I know different state schools have different standards. Like Florida State and Georgia State.

Yes, a 37 is what I’d consider a mediocre score.

But in all seriousness, 22-26 is a nice, average score.

An 1800 is what I consider average on the SAT. You do the math.

Based on what I hear from kids, I think 1800 is average too and anything above 2000 is considered good. But what exactly is a good score for ACT? Barely anyone take it in my school. Over 30? Average is 26?

Thanks guys. And I got a 1700something when I took the SAT for the first time and only took it becuase I had a waiver junior year and gave up because of the constant subject switch and got tired of reading lol. After that I decided never to take it again lol.

I got 34 on reading,32 English, 30 on math, 20 on science for ACT, I’m 8th grader in middle school. Do you guys think I could go to ivy school if I were a high school graduate?

@wastate. That’s a composite 29. Don’t think so.
A good SAT score for an average student…I’d say 24-28 is a good range.

True, the composite is 29. I may skip high school. Is that really big deal? Or people are just being polite when they say “wow, it’s great”.

^You’re in 8th grade. Chill, don’t freak out over colleges. Live your childhood while you can, you’ll regret it later if you don’t.

And for heaven’s sake, don’t skip high school. It’s idiotic.

Thanks, I’ll give a thought about it.

Applied for Andover and got rejected.
