Before I start, I am awaiting several other decesions, but this discussion is based off of these schools.
I am a Georgia resident who is majoring in Biology and I plan on Pre-Med to go to Med School after.
I would like opinions on the following schools based off distance from home, cost (under grad and med school), challenging but manageable, social life, etc.
I want to get out and see what the world has to offer, but I am worried about being homesick. Is that normal?
Here are my choices…
UCLA (63k)
FSU (19k)
UGA (18k)
UF (43k)
I know that I can make my own choices, but I wanted other thoughts, especially based off of pricing, distance, prestige, and med school after.
I’m not one of the more seasoned posters, but I know that they’ll tell you to go where the money is because you’re trying to go to med school. No need to collect unnecessary debt in undergrad.
UGA or FSU will be your best choices if you want to go to med school, because everyone here says to not burden yourself with lots of debt before even starting med school. If you go to FSU you will experience a different state, but not be ridiculously far from home. Good luck.
UGA or FSU have the best value regardless of major. Since FSU is a similar cost to UGA you only have best value but get to go OOS at a great price, and I’m guessing you got into the honors college which will really help with perks and community.
(Uc’s OOS for pre-med is a death wish. California med schools don’t have enough space for all the talented Californians applying and dont admit OOS applicants. And all these California students are prepared and driven. Plus the cost…)
