So there’s this professor I had for one of my online summer courses. She’s horrible, unorganized and rude. I’ve NEVER had a professor like this and I’ve been in school for awhile now. She’s so unorganized that I’ve had to email her numerous times because she’s made so many mistakes. I always ended up being right. Her tests even had questions that weren’t finished, making it impossible to answer questions. Basically she shouldn’t be teaching online classes. ANYWAY! Our exams are always on Mondays, but this course officially ended on a Sunday. So she posted an announcement saying she would give us until Monday to take this exam. I assumed this meant we could submit it ON Monday. To my surprise, I went to take it this morning and the entire course was gone so I could not take it. She’s the kind of professor that would blame me somehow for this… I’ve had a high B in the class and if I don’t take this it will drop drastically. How would you handle this? Am I in the wrong? I’m really nervous that she won’t let me take the exam since the course is closed on blackboard.
Here’s my suggestion…
The class may have been removed from the system when the semester ended without her knowledge. I would first try to contact the professor directly by email and then a call today. You want it on record that you reached out to the professor today (Monday).
If that doesn’t work I would contact the department head, your academic advisor, the dean of students in that order. Save and possibly even print out (so the prof. can’t wipe them out) all the emails/announcements and include them in attachments to emails you send to anyone other than the professor…
Yeah, I agree with happy1. You can use those announcements as evidence. I had a terrible experience with an online CS professor. She even gave us the wrong exam for the class. It was like a database/business exam and our class was learning C#! I wondered why I understood absolutely nothing. She later noticed and gave us the correct exam, but eesh, some professors aren’t suited for distance education. Hopefully things work out for you. I’m sure other students faced similar issues if she was a bit vague in her announcement.
Contact the head of the department and discuss the issues with them.
^ But next time, take precautions. If they say until Monday, I would’ve assumed until it hits Monday aka Sunday midnight.
