<p>im already accepted at saint joes univ in philly and college of charleston. im heavily leaning towards charleston as it is beautiful and i can always go to california for grad school. but what do YOU guys think?</p>

<p>You should double check, but I'm pretty soon you are too late for transfer apps to the UC's for next fall.

<p>I'm thinking its a mistake to pay $40K (or more) a year to go to a UC school out of state. For that money you could afford just about any school in the country, you could get small classes, more personal attention, etc.</p>

<p>Transferring into the UCs from out of state is difficult. By law, the UC's give first preference to California residents who have attended California community colleges first. Then, they give preference to California residents who have attended other schools. Then, they finally consider out of state transfers. And, as Calmom notes, the deadline for applying to transfer for the fall has also already passed, so you'd have to wait to the spring even if you did get in.</p>
<p>I'd go to St. Joe's -- it's a GREAT school, and a good financial deal.</p>
<p>I wouldnt go as far as saying St. Joe's is a great school, it's certainly a good and respectable school in the region, but I dont think it has anything on CofC, UCSB or UCLA.</p>

<p>really i was unaware of that. i figured they were almost equals. any reason as to why it is more respected? regardless i want to move to california after graduation i am sure not many people out there have heard of either...</p>

<p>St. Joe's would probably be known more because of the recent success of the basketball team. Despite a guy from my school starting for St. Joe's, I have no bias towards it. CofC is a much more gorgeous and better school.</p>
