What would YOU do?

May 1st is almost here, and I really have to decide pretty soon. So, I've narrowed my decision down to 2 schools, Bucknell University and Washington and Jefferson College

Bucknell: 26th on the liberal arts ranking, great reputation. But....greek life is HUGE, lacking diversity, and it's in the middle of nowhere. I would only have to take on a 4,600 loan each year and a family contribution of about 3000. Which is not bad considered that the cost of attendance is about 45,000.

Washington and Jefferson: Around 97 on the liberal arts ranking, 12th oldest school in America. One of the highest acceptance rates to law school...the staff there is very supportive and they seem to truly care about the students. I visited the campus that thought it was very nice. Problem, I need to take on almost a 10,000 loan each year.

So, no-brainer, I decided to go to Bucknell since it was cheaper, even though I liked W&J more. Here's the twist...w&j just notified me that they're basically willing to match bucknell's offer.

Where should I go? Dream school or school with better reputation?

If they cost the same, the one you feel more comfortable at. Rankings mean a lot less if you are not happy there...

If price will be about the same, and you love W&J, I don't see where the difficulty is. Go for the one you love!

"One of the highest acceptance rates to law school."

Where did you see this data?

If you fit better at W&J, I'd go there.

Thank you so much for you thoughts. This morning I just mailed in the deposit for Bucknell University...I figured I should just give that school a chance...maybe I'll like it more once I'm there?

I found that data from a Peterson's article.

"Now in its 3rd century, Washington & Jefferson College continues to be one of America's premier liberal arts colleges. High-quality academic programs and a student-centered approach characterize a W&J education. Programs in prehealth and prelaw are nationally recognized, with medical and law school acceptance rates among the highest in the country"

They have about a 90%+ acceptance rate to law school, when the nation average is about 67%
