What would you do?

Next year I'm going to be a junior and I'm planning on having a few leadership positions in clubs and also being a class officer.

However, I really love politics & government and it's been my dream since middle school to be a Senate or a House page.
I'm only going to be old enough to be a page during spring semester, so IF I were accepted, I would have to leave all my leadership positions from fall semester of junior year behind and my ECs would get all disrupted. I don't have many leadership positions this year as a sophomore and I was really planning on becoming a leader in my ECs as a junior.

Could I get all those positions back when I'm a senior? (might be kind of stupid to ask, sorry)

What would you do if you were accepted to be a page and were in my situation?
Is being a Senate page worth all the consequences? I know it's really competitive so I don't want to miss out on the opportunity if I do get accepted.

Sorry for asking, but what does a page do that disrupts your activity in ECs?

^ From Wikipedia: “A United States Senate Page (Senate Page or simply Page) is a non-partisan federal employee serving the United States Senate in Washington, DC”

So he would have to move to Washington DC I guess.

^What Pyroza said.

I’d have to move to DC and go to a different school there.

Dude that must be a serious distinction if you were able to become a House/Senate Page. Your school EC positions wouldn’t even compare. I say if you ARE indeed accepted, it doesn’t even matter.

But if I were accepted as a page, would ONLY that make up for a lack of good extracurriculars?

are u saying if u were accepted u would have to move to DC… isnt that a bit much? It also says u have to be nominated by a senator… are u nominated?

Wow. I didn’t know teenagers could do that…

as crazy as it sounds, i might be interested but i don’t know the governer of GA and my parents won’t allow me

■■■■■■■■11, why would it be a ‘bit much’? Many high school juniors do it every year and say it’s a great, life-changing, enriching experience especially if you are interested in politics and government. No, I have not been nominated by a senator yet because it is too early to apply. Senators nominate you through an application-and-interview process. Ideally I’d like to be nominated because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to become a page.

what i meant by the bit much was that would ur parents allow u to change schools and let u stay in a dorm room… by the way can u tell me the process of getting nominated by a senator and then what?? do u fill out an application to become a page?? how does this work? im at the site but can’t get anything out of it(yup im intrested)

My parents would, it’s not a big deal. Going to a different school and living in a dorm room? It’s like sending your kid away to college, and junior year is only 2 years before college anyway.

What session do you want to sign up for? I think the application process is somewhat different for each senator, and some senators don’t have anything about it up on their websites. You should call your senator’s office, don’t e-mail because they’ll never respond. And also make sure the senator you are applying to is not a Junior senator because they aren’t allowed to nominate.

i checked the Georgia page for it but only 1 paragraph came up not like a whole list like Washington has. our senator is Chambliss, Saxby and he’s class 2? what does that mean? whatever session that’s coming up, im joining it. But my main problem is that there’s no forms or apps to fill out for the state of Georgia.

Also what grade are you in and what’s your age? That matters too.

i already read that part, u have to be a junior and 16 or 17 yrs old… im gonna try to contact them… sorry for not answering ur original question
