What would you do?

I'm a senior from a private school. I live in Virginia. I have a 4.1 cum. gpa and presumably a 1900-2000 SAT (once i get my new score later this month). i want to major in either finance or accounting, but i can't decide which is my top school. assuming i can get into each school, can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each school

I'm applying to:
UVA
College of William and Mary
USMA at West Point
Virginia Tech
George Mason
University of Pittsburgh (already accepted to the Business School)
University of Florida

Money is not an issue with any of these schools.

West Point is certainly the odd one in that list. That is a whole different level of commitment.

Among the other colleges, particularly for an instate person, I would go to UVa or William and Mary if you have the choice. Those two colleges have very similar admission stats, but they often end up admitting different students.

According to U.S. News the top five accounting programs among undergraduate business programs are:

Texas

Illinois

Brigham Young

Univ. of Pennsylvania

Univ. of Southern California

I agree with the other poster that West Point stands out as quite different from your other college choices. Does it offer accounting or finance?

The top MBA accounting programs are regularly listed as some of the top business programs in the nation. The schools which are listed as top accounting schools offer advanced concentrations and degrees like the Ph.D. in the accounting field. They also offer the opportunity for interdisciplinary studies and research.
University of Texas
University of Pennsylvania

I don’t understand why folks are listing schools different from the OPs list.

As a parent who has gone through the student debt, money should always be an issue. Any reduction in undergrad expenses can fund an MBA. I think this easily makes UVA, W&M and Pitt assuming you get one of their generous merit packages, top picks.

Accounting is taught in a fairly standard manner across the board.

West Point is such a different animal I wouldn’t even compare it to the others until you are accepted. The acceptance has a PT element and of course the service requirement, so I’d advise you consider this separately after an acceptance has been received. I am assuming you have already begun the application process at West Point. If you have not, then timing will be an issue since you need to request a recommendation from a politician.

I know many kids want to excape the home state, but some states, like VA, have such fantastic schools at extremely reasonable costs it seems silly to go out of state.

Money is not an issue because I will have ROTC scholarships to any of the schools.
I was just interested to hear any pros and cons of each business school because I have a good shot at getting into all of the listed schools. I’m also considering engineering and would most likely major in that at West Point. For the rest of the schools, i would most likely pursue business
