i dont think i took a required senior math back when i was still in high school and that might not make me eligible to go to a 4 year college. what are my options? is there a way to verificate this issue?
“back when I was in high school” – does that mean you already graduated? Requirements change so if you already graduated you would have met the requirements at that time. Did you leave school without graduating? A little more information is needed.
yes im already graduated from high school. im taking a gap year right now
If you have already graduated, you are referring to a requirement that the college has stated. It is probably listed as a recommendation, as opposed to requirement. While most “recommendations” are often read as required, this is one of those times where you go with what you have as they don’t expect you to go back to HS to take a course.
I don’t know if this applies in your case but in some less selective colleges they’ll admit you with the expectation that you take the missed class at college right away.
What math did you get through? If calculus, you’re probably fine.
i took a mathematics of finance because i was behind in credits and i really wanted to graduate in 2016.
Email the universities you’re interested in.
What 4 math classes did you take (beside Mathematics of Finance),what university is it, and what major did you apply for?
i havent started applying for college becuase i still have to do the act test. but the university i want to go is kennesaw state. i took algebra 1 and 2 and also geometry.
Email Kennesaw and ask if algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, and finance math would meet their admission requirements for math. If not, what should you do? I think it could e okay for kennesaw.
so i contacted kennesaw and this is what they sent me.
“Thank you for your interest in KSU! Below is a link for the classes that we will take for the high school curriculum. http://www.usg.edu/assets/student_affairs/documents/Staying_on_Course.pdf”
so i replied to them saying “Mathematics of finance seems to be not recommended for approval. Does that mean I have a low chance of getting accepted?”
and they replied “You would have to complete or will be completing all units for the high school curriculum by graduation in order to gain acceptance into KSU.”
so does that mean im good to go?
The response you got to your follow-up question didn’t answer your question at all. I don’t think you can assume anything (it’s tempting to read into the response the answer you want to see but you can’t succumb to that). Did you graduate from a high school in Georgia? If so, contact your high school’s counseling office and find out from them if the course can be used to meet Kennesaw’s math requirement.
You need to call, NOT email; ask for an admission counselor regarding a non-listed math course offered in a public GA high school, and tell them what exact math classes you took.
based on the link you provided, the class has an “endnote 3”, ie., counts as 4th year requirement but may not be approved by the public university system, meaning it depends on each university’s policy.
