What would you suggest I do?

I just got my SAT scores back today and got a 600 in math, 800 in writing, and 800 in verbal. While I'm not an amazing math student, I was expecting to do better.

I'm planning on applying to a few Ivys and some other selective schools, so what would you suggest I do? I think I should probably take the test again to improve my math, but then there's also the possibility that I won't do as well in writing and verbal.

What's the best way to improve my math? I didn't use a course or a tutor and I studied from my brother's old 2005 SAT Princeton Review book (but does it really make much of a difference if I buy the 2007 one?)

Also, will colleges see this as a 2200 or a 1400? Because if they don't count the writing score, that's not so great...

i'd take it again, after studying for math over the summer

even though you might not get perfect in writing and verbal again, most ivy league schools super score, so it won't really matter.

yea, definately take it again

take it again........

this is my 200th post! :( if i were suing my old account, I'd have 3000!

damn that's actually an awesome score and probably the bset 2200 there is. All you have to do is study math now. Do a crapload of practice problems. If you get an 800 in math next time (whch is not hard at all if you study), you'll have a 2400 composite!!! Just think of it as you alreadying taking down 2 subjects. Now you just have one left

Actually, the best 2200 breakdown would probably be 800M, 800CR, and 600W, but whatever.

As for the original question, SAT I Math is fairly easy to prepare for because they basically recycle the same types of problems in most tests. If you just know how to do those, you can easily bump your math score 100 points or more.

I'd suggest you take it again using the Official SAT Study Guide (forget Princeton Review) for practice tests

Work through the math sections methodically to get a feel for the type of questions they ask over and over - there's a section on CC with many of the problems from the study guide worked out
