"Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your educational background and how they have prepared you for study at _______ College."

I obviously wouldn't use someone else's ideas if they didn't apply to me, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what to write about in general.

I'd evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of my educational background and how they have prepared me to study at college X.

:D

I'm so helpful.

I'd write about how I took advanced classes (yeah right at my school we don't get to choose our classes, they only offered two honors in my entire tiem in high school anyway) and worked hard becasue i knew what i wanted to do later in life and i wanted to work towards my goal of attending their college which i have loved since i was three years old and found out what the word college meant. Okay, that last part is pushing it. But yeah. If you've taken any college level classes at the community college, throw that in and talk about how the experience was. You could also focus on how some classes weren't what you thought they'd be and you want a better education that you feel you can get by going to their college.

Another good strategy is to talk about a few areas you're interested in studying in college and mention classes and programs at that specific school.

Example: "I excelled in my high school French classes and look forward to furthering my studies in Professor Croissant's course 'Obscenities in Modern France'...Though I was never exposed to philosophy in the past, I hope to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Lala University's world-reknowned philosophy department...."

"Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your educational background and how they have prepared you for study at _______ College."

I would refrain (or briefly acknowledge) my participation in APs yadada. I would go on to clarify my specific interests and tie them with the college. I would want to make sure my reasons for wanting to attend XYZ college are unique to that place and their approach to education.

For instance, I might write:
"While it is true that I have been supplied with a general liberal arts education at ABC high-school, I realize that the standardized mandate is not enough. It is necessary that if I want to pursue [applicant's academic passion] I must go beyond the given to become educated. This means, [definition of education]. It is only coincidental that XYZ embraces [whatever educational philosophy]. XYZ has [facilities, specific instruction, unique programs]..."

Something like that.

Professor Croissant's course...hahahah, that cracked me up. I think I need to sleep.
