what would YOUR top choice be, and why?

If you were guaranteed admission into

Stanford University
Amherst College
Brown University
Columbia University
Bowdoin College
Dartmouth College

which would you go to, and why?

Out of that list I guess Amherst because it’s the southernmost small LAC in the list, though none of those would be my top choice.

Dartmouth.

School is focused on undergraduates.

Apparently their teachers are amazing there.

I love the campus (that’s my own personal taste)

D-Plan

Alumni there are so helpful!
And there’s more, but Ican’t think of anymore right now.

Stanford because I’d want to live in CA.

The D Plan turns me off.

I couldn’t afford to live in NYC so Columbia is out.

Dartmouth or Bowdoin.

Stanford and Columbia…I think both California and NYC would provide too many distractions for undergrad.

Brown too liberal.

Amherst gives me the creeps for some reason…too small? too elitist?

I like Dartmouth’s proximity to mountains and Bowdoin’s proximity to ocean.

Columbia University-
The Core <3
The City
Networking
Great internship/research opportunities for undergrads
Pretty good engineering program (not the best but very good still)
Friendly/helpful staff

Probably Columbia, although I’d have a hard time turning down Stanford.
Reasons:
I’m looking for a bigger, more metropolitan school than the other three.
I like the Core Curriculum a whole lot.
NYC is amazing
Stanford would be a plane flight, and I’d rather not deal with that. Columbia, on the other hand, is one of the 5 or 6 closest colleges to my house.
Oh, and my parents went to Brown. It’s kind of a turnoff for me.

Stanford all the way!
The campus is beautiful, the science and psychology departments are legendary, and its near one of the best cities in the world (San Fran).

Columbia, probably. NYC + Core Curriculum = incredible. Maybe Brown, because the open curriculum seems cool too. And there’s a Chipotle two blocks from campus <3

Dartmouth! I love it…the setting, the undergraduate focus, the diversity, the social life…

I think it combines all the good that an LAC like Bowdoin offers with the opportunities and connections of an Ivy/Stanford.

Bowdoin (it’s my top choice now) but maybe Brown… Ahh I don’t know!

Sent from my iPhone using CC

i’ve spent time at stanford before… it’s a nice school but I dunno i’ve lived in cali forever and the weather and town is just no.
it would def come down to darthmouth or columbia- just because it’s in NY ;)

I totally agree with you DCU!

Either Columbia or Dartmouth. Columbia because of its close proximity to my home (I live in New York) and Dartmouth because I love how isolated yet inviting it is.

The only two of these that I would not consider attending are Dartmouth and Columbia. I perceive Dartmouth as being populated by stuffy, preppy people who get hammered at what is an alarming rate for stuffy, preppy people – this may be absolutely incorrect, but it’s the way I perceive it.

Stanford would be nice because I’m on the west coast and it’s Stanford… which is nice. It seems to me that Brown is the best fit for me as a person/student, though, so I’d pick Brown. If I had to pick any non-LAC in general (every single school I’m applying to is one minus a financial safety), I’d pick Brown.

Bowdoin

Best mascot

Thanks for posting everyone! Everyone is so different, the decisions are so divided. Dartmouth has seem to attracted the most interest though

That’s because Dartmouth=love.

Haha definitely.^

Another vote for Dartmouth. I love Hanover. I couldn’t do college in NYC.
