It wouldn't be a good thing if the interview is "just neutral" - they might perceive you as a "just neutral" applicant. Don't let the interview be neutral - if Yale is your first choice, show the interviewer that. Don't go overboard, but enthusiasm is not a bad thing.

What you have to do is...find something that you and your interviewer have in common. Look around the office or where ever for something that might spark a conversation. DONT BE NERVOUS! Push your personality out you! Dont be intimidated just becuz its "Yale". If you act like this is the place you want to be....theyre bound to know it! GOOD LUCK!

He's right - they will know. They will be looking for someone whom they would've enjoyed talking to at Yale, and if you fit the bill, congratulations might be in order (in my opinion, at least).

I find that the above is true. No matter how hard I try I cannot fake enthusiasm well. Of course, that shouldnt be a problem for Yale because I am so enthusiastic

"No matter how hard I try I cannot fake enthusiasm well."

Just for clarification...i really meant to say that you shouldnt let a name like Yale make you get all nervous and quiet....just try to get over yourself and simply push your personality through.....it's like when you are afraid to jump into a cold pool....you just jump anyway and grit your teeth. :)

oh no, if its one thing that I'm not, that would be being quiet :) I was voted Mr. Opinionated by Youth and Government and spoke on every bill. When nervous though, I do tend to giggle nervously. This happened during my Harvard interview because the guy was a lawyer and was really really agressive in his line of questioning. Luckily for me, I knew what I was talking about and didnt try to exaggerate or misrepresent myself.

You know.....i just realized you were a guy....i've always thought of you as a girl!

hmmm....... thats a bit awkward, I mean how can you really distinguish the gender from my sn....

for example, most girls wouldnt have "bum" in their sn.... but mine is more gender neutral

i dont know.....it's just never occured to me...sorry....lol.
