For all those who got into UF what did yiu do? How were your gpa, test scores, ec,essays?? I live in florida btw..but im sooo scared my SAT score of 1520 and ACT of 22 will not get me anywhere..:( i am in the IB program #17 in class..my weighted and unweighted gpa is good to.
.also does UF consider recommendation letters? Or do they do common application? Anything will help....im just super worried about my SAT score...though im taking it again in october

Hi, in your other thread I posted info on admissions, including the UF Freshman profile.

You really need to improve your SAT or ACT score. Spend some time studying for test over the summer and try to get it up to at least 1700+ to make UF a match. Otherwise it’s a high match/low reach type school.

UF does not consider recommendation letters. They also don’t consider SAT II or AP test scores for admissions (though they do for class placement and AP credit).

UF does not use the common application. They use an on-line application, and self-reported grades. They only ask for your transcripts, after you’ve been accepted, otherwise they work off the SAR. Make sure you have a copy of your high school transcripts, before working on the SAR.

Good Luck!

Im really scared now…they dont look at recoomendation they dont look at ap scores??? What?? Then what do they look at??

But on the UF page it it says you need Critical Reading= 460, Mathematics=460 and Writing= 440

They look at SAT, not SAT II. SAT II is kinda like an AP exam, but most of the time you can’t get college credit for the scores.

Those are the minimum requirements. To be competitive, you need at least 1600-1700+.

UF looks at the following (based on the common data set):

It goes from Very important, to important, to Considered

Academic
Rigor of secondary school record-Very Important
Class rank-Considered
Academic GPA-Very Important
Standardized test scores-Important
Application Essay-Very Important

Nonacademic

Extracurricular activities-Very Important
Talent/ability-Very Important
Character/personal qualities-Very Important
First generation-Important
Alumni/ae relation-Considered
Geographical residence-Important
State residency-Considered
Volunteer work-Very Important
Work experience-Important
Level of applicant’s interest-Considered

They do not consider the following:
Recommendation
Interview
Religious affiliation/commitment
Racial/ethnic status

Good Luck

I echo what @gator88NE says. I personally even think 1600-1700 would be a very low score. Directly from UF’s website, "Students admitted for the fall 2014 freshman class had an average 4.4 GPA and an average SAT score of 1960. " UF is very selective, and scores are important to them.
