GPA and ECs are great, SAT is too low. Bring it over 2100 (or try the ACT) and you’ll be in excellent shape. Don’t forget to have some true safeties as well since UC wait listed a lot of kids with great stats this year.
UC GPA has 8 semesters capped.http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You can only list 5 EC’s.
Your course rigor is okay… 4 AP’s out of how many?
Test scores are way too low.
What is your major?
In state or out of state?
Pretty sure class rank isn’t considered.
My intended major is either biology or Neurobiology. I am an out of state resident.
Do you think with my ECs: and my GPA that I have a chance at UCI and UCSB
@stuckonthisearth If you turned in your application today, then I don’t think you would get in UCI or UCSB mainly because of the SAT score. A score of 1640 is much too low for those kind of schools.
SAT is used as a standardized way to kind of counteract the fluctuation of GPA from school to school. A score of 1640 kind of downplays your GPA and makes it seem that your school might have inflated grades.
Try to study really hard and get that score up to ~2100 or like @washugrad said take the ACT because the SAT might not be for you. ACT is based more on what you know while the SAT is based on your test-taking skills because ACT questions are more straightforward while SAT questions are very tricky.
I am taking the ACT in June and am praying that I do well!!! It’s just the SATs that doesn’t match my GPA. These are two of my top schools and I would do absolutely anything to get into any of these schools. There was a girl from my school who got into UCI with a 1650 and a 3.984 as her weighted GPA and another girl from my school with a 1750 SAT score and a 3.84 weighted and she got into UCSB. I thought because I had a better weighted and Unweighted GPA and I had more ECs and Leadership positions that it would kind of solicit my terrible test score because they both had around a 3.78 unweighted and were not as involved as I am. Also, when I checked on Naviance under admissions for UCI and UCSB it said that UCI considered a 1595 to be low and UCSB considered a 1625 to be low, so I thought that I would still have a chance. I just hope I can make it into UCSB the school seems like a perfect fit for me. I really appreciate you guys giving me incite! It mean a lot!
