just wanted to post this, wondering what other people were writing about in their intellectual essay?
i'd figure a lot of people would be doing something like stem cell research, just wondering what kinda topics are going to be the most common ones for the adcoms to see

i'm leaning towards chaos theory or string theory... but i dont know how i'd go about elaborating on these topics, i have to present it in a way that would make me an attractive candidate for stanford...

another idea i had in mind was like immigrant assimilation into american society... my parents having moved here 21 years ago, and reading the book "The Kite Runner," by Khaled Hosseini, it really does fascinate me. but would a topic like that fall under intellectual idea? give me your thoughts

oh, it may be cliche, but i think you can still write it strongly. besides, things become cliche for a reason - in this case, it's a possibly effective topic to write about.

I'm doing Creative Commons, which is an alternative copytight sort of thing. The only thing that worries me is that it was started by a Stanford professor, and while I really do think its a terrific idea, I'm worried they'll just see it as sucking up. Any thoughts?

No, I don't. In fact, I don't mention it in my essay. But he's a prominent man, at least in his community, and I'm worried the admissions counselors will take notice. I think I am going to go with the idea unless someone strongly feels that it will be viewed negatively.
