What's a good planner to use for college?

I've been browsing around for a good planner to use in the fall. The moleskine weekly planners look pretty good to me. What about you guys? What do you use to keep track of everything? I've been using paper planners since middle school, like the ones that are sold in staples. I'm ready for a fancier one, or something more suitable for college. Any suggestions?

I used to use paper planners, but last year I switched to google calendar, and it's made things a lot easier. I downloaded google desktop, and then I could have my planner displayed on the desktop of my computer all the time. It's worked well for me. I can even add a due date or a meeting to my calendar while I'm in class if I have my computer with me. If you're set on a paper planner, I can't help much because I always just bought what was cheapest at my local Barnes and Noble or Borders after New Years Day.

I currently have a nice (fake?) leather planner I use. In fact, I need to get more calendar pages for it if I plan to continue using it. I just got a Dell Pocket PC off of ebay that I intend to use for a calendar this year even though it's bigger than I expected and the case does not have a belt clip on it:(

I'm not sure what I'm going to use this next year yet..

Most schools sell a school planner in their bookstores -- these are the best because they'll already have the days when there's no school marked down, etc.

I've always liked the daily planners with the hours on the side. It allowed me to plan out my day, and gave me plenty of space to jot down any notes that I needed to.

Not a big fan of calendars on computers though... it's not portable. I can't write down anything in the middle of the day, nor can I refer to it either. PDA's and smartphones are better, but I'm not sure they're worth the pricetag for college students.

I always began the school year with the free planner from school but then I would leave that alone by week 2 and make my own planner by using paper and putting in the front of my binder. I did this each week and I never forgot anything.

Franklin Covey is my favorite. You go into one of their stores in the mall and they got the binders, pages, storage containers and a boatload of other stuff.

I also dislike the internet ones. Something about writing it down and checking it gets it done for me...always forget things and skip stuff when I used internet planners.

tmacgirl, I'm just like you too! I "make" mine out of filler paper, one for each month. My friends think it's weird lol.

Post-it Lite is a pretty awesome program that lets you organize stuff on your computer (small notices, it's not a calendar or anything).

i just use the $8 plastic front and paper ones from staples. i find myself writing less and less as the semester gets towards the end. ive always been real good with remembering assignments, and i have the syllabi for each class anyway.

otherwise i have one of those huge desk calendars for exams and social things and meetings that i need to remember. and a lottttt of post-its. im very organized in a compeltely disorganized/crazy/messy way

i buy the planner the school produces, but i'm not super religious about it..i mostly use it to remember when bigger events like football games are and stuff (i'm on the colorguard so i have to go to all of them)

i'm definitely a list person & i make lots of post-its (both with a computer program and the paper kind)

i wasnt sure if my school was going to give me a free one like i had been used to (leaning toward no) no i bought one today. it is really simple and had days and rectangles with lines so i can write down assignments and future tests and stuff, a regular calender, and place for notes (just a couple of pages), and some other cool stuff. it is fake leather. i usually slack on using it as the year progresses thus causing me to forget to do assignments which might hurt a little more in college than high school

I agree with lylbeachbabee: school planners have all kinds of vital school-specific information.

If I were going to go with something bigger and more complicated, I'd probably look at the Circa planner from Levenger. I have a few of their Circa notebooks for major, long-term projects. It's worth investing in a portable punch if you go that route, though: it means you can use filler paper or something else cheap to add more to your notebook later on.

Filofax... kinda expensive, but you can always refill your planner each year

seriously welcome to the 21st century, use MS outlook

ms outlook calendar view is love. i color coordinate all my classes, discussions, labs, meetings, exams, paper due dates, friend's birthdays... EVERYTHING. it's so useful, i print one out weekly/monthly and write stuff over them if i'm in a hurry n not carrying my laptop on me to scribble on. you can also input daily todo lists, schedule your entire day... etc. seriously useful, it's extremely organized and easy interface aswell =)

I buy the cheap paper ones from staples, and put important papers in them so i never forget anything.

I use my head, for the most part.

Sometimes I supplement it with a calendar program like Mozilla Sunbird.
