I decided to take the ACT because my SAT scores weren't good enough (2060) and I'll have to retake before applying to colleges, which is cutting it pretty close. The ACT is convenient because it is in September and I don't have to submit it if I don't want to, because it's not a college board test. The only thing is, I don't know much about it! What's a good score (like for colleges like Berkeley or USC) and what's a great score (Ivies, Northwestern, top LACS)? thanks

for ivies 30-34 is usually the range.

Northwestern: Average ACT score is about a 30. One of my friend will be a fresh man here next year, he got a 35 the second time he took it.

qaz88, what did your friend recieve the first time.

32 is 99th percentile...

So 32+ is ideal. Most people on CC have a 34, i believe.

32 is 99th percentile

34 is 99.9th percentile

34+ you can apply anywhere

whoa qaz88, is that web site correct? b/c for stanford the average ACT score is 30 and SAT 735 math/Verbal 710. I know this does include legacies/URM/athletics, but still, it seems kind of low.

It's probably close.

Another good testament to the fact that they look at a lot more than just standardized test scores when deciding admissions..

He got a 33 the first time, his brother also went there.

I scored a 36. The highest score in the district.
