I was wondering if 3.6 is a good GPA. I'm a junior this year and the class i'm taking are so f-ing hard. I'm probably at a 3.6 this year. Overall, it may 3.8. Is having a 3.6 pretty bad for schools like Duke, Northwestern, U Chicago, Columbia, and some top-tier schools?

unweighted?

it depends on the colleges' perception of your school, the level of the classes that you're taking, your class rank, and your scores.

UChicago is not stats concious, in fact, they send D a brochure stating so. You just have to write a few good essays.

what are you kidding me? UChicago is very difficult to get into. It takes more than just a few good essays.

You need the grades and the essays. They are known to be a bit more lax on the test scores though.

UChicago is less stats-conscious, but it's stats-conscious nevertheless.

UChicago is one of the best schools out there. I'd say it's just as selective as the ivy leagues. And I'd say as long as you have a 3.75+ you're fine. Are the collegeboard GPAs shown on the stats weighted or unweighted? Or are they on the university's scale?
