<p>Since this student's SAT scores fall almost exactly at Rice's 50 percentile, I'm wondering why would he be eligible for an 8K - 12K scholarship? I'd presume that even with a "diversity" scholarship (and I suspect Hispanic might not be very diverse in Texas, but I really have no idea) the expectation would be that they are near the top of the applicants. How does that work?</p>
