<p>I have to agree with weenie about the OP's sons prospects of getting a Trustee Diversity Scholarship at Rice. My D is Latina and very interested in Rice so I keep pretty close track to what's happening there. The OP's SAT score of 1330 (M&V) is actually at the 25th percentile for Rice. Last year the three applicants on the Rice board that reported getting the TD scholarship had SAT scores of 1430, 1450 & 1450. While I do think (and hope) that Rice is looking for Latinos to increase their diversity and that the TD scholarship is not strictly numbers based, I think it would be misleading to say that the OP's son is "very likely to receive" a merit scholarship.</p>
