Hello. I'm actually planning to teach a kid how to play the piano and piano theory too. I never really taught piano, but I guess my neighbors heard me play so they thought I was good. So they asked me if I could teach their son, but I'm not sure what reasonable rate I should charge is. Can you gives give me some numbers that are reasonable $/hour?

we pay $25/1 hour lesson

Where we live, I would say that really good teachers charge in the region of $50 to $60 per hour, and obviously they are well qualified, excellent musicians, who may even be performers. As a student of music yourself, you could ask for $15.00 for a 30 minute lesson .

My S pays $10/half hour for lessons from a sultry young lady, but $25/half hour for an older lady professional instructor. In both cases, he supplies the music but they assign it.

Call around and see what people are paying in your local school or community college. that will give you an idea of what to charge.

$25/half-hour is common around here (urban area)
