and class rank.. out of 300 lets say

If you’re 15th and above and have a 2250+, then you should be fine.

I agree with Hesterrrrrrrrrrr, except i think a 2200+ is fine too (the higher the better of course, soa 2250 would be a little better, but once you pass a certain mark [2200 IMO], the test scores become exponentially less important)

^ agreed with peytoncline.

Top 5% is typically “safe,” as in it won’t make or break you.
2200+ is passable for an unhooked, non-URM, non-RA

I’d say 2400 is the only safe score, but that of course can be heavily debated
I say make it past 2100 and scores aren’t an issue

2350 is a good place to start not being completely surprised by your acceptance.

more than 2200 is kinda of a crapshoot,i would say…!

uhhh if you look at all of the EA/ED results threads, you will find that MANY people with 2300+ were deferred or rejected. Your SAT score is definitely not that important once you get past 2200.

i agree. 2200+ or 33 on ACT.

edit: and for class rank, top 1-2%??

Do these score estimates apply to superscore???

there was a post on the yale board in which someone had averaged the SAT scores of admitted, deferred and rejected. Admitted as 2315, if i can remember correctly. Deffered as 2200ish, rejected 2100-2200ish.

Supposedly they use different methodology in the EA/ED and RD rounds, the latter of which rewards higher scorers more. That is, as Stanford showed, they focused on getting URMs and athletes, since they knew those would be locked in. Kids with high scores will react differently than URMs with lower scores.

oh dearrrrrr… maybe.

I’m just saying, that I know more kids with 2200-2300s than 2300-2400s who were accepted to HYPMS. (Accepted in both EA/ED and RD rounds).

ALSO: The OP asked what a solid score from Princeton would be. The answer to that is 2200+ on SAT and 750+ on subject tests… and that’s irrevocable.

I agree with eating food.

…that wasn’t random, I am talking about the person who posted directly above me.

Wait, these are for non-urms right? What are the scores that Princeton considers to be good enough for urms?

top 5% and 2200+ SAT / 33+ ACT (along with high SAT II scores [i.e 2 scores being 770+ and the third being about 720+) will receive a check by the admissions officers; after that, it’ll be up to your ECs, leadership, volunteering, hooks (if you have any), etc. to get you into HYPSM and any top-notch school, really

Ideally the same would hold true for URMs. However, realistically, URMs get into Princeton all the time with 2000+ (I know 4).

hm… Im URM with 2110… mybe I HAVE a chance…!

what does URM stand for>?

underrespresented minority eg black latino
