What's an average hourly pay for Georgetown's Work-Study Students

I was awarded more than 3k in work-study funds and I am worried that if they pay barely above the minimum wage it will be impossible for me to earn even close to the given amount. any ideas what's the pay and types of jobs? I have not accepted my place yet so I cannot access the work website.

I’m not sure about Georgetown in particular, but other work-study programs include tutoring which can easily rake in about $20/hr.

Also, the minimum wage is $8.25. Let’s say you only work for the 30 weeks you take classes at Georgetown (assuming you go home for spring break and winter break). $3000/30 weeks = $100. $100/minimum wage of $8.25 = 12 hours. If you can work 8 hours on saturday and 4 hours on Friday, you’re all set!

At the moment, out of available work study jobs, the highest is $15/hour, but that is for a graduate student to work as a research assistant. The highest for a job an undergrad could get is $12/hour. The lowest is $8.25 (minimum wage) and the average is $9-$10.

Edit: There’s actually one job (clerical assistant for men’s lacrosse) being advertised at $8, which is below the DC minimum wage, so I’m not sure what the situation is with that.

Thank you for the information. If you have used up your $3K or $2K in work study, does the department that you are working for generally keep you on, and pay you out of non-work-study funds, or do they just let you go?

^wait, flight23, don’t we all have to leave during the winter break? I dont think staying and working in winter is an option, is it?

The work-study jobs are usually between $8.25 and $9, but I had a job that was $10/hour, and my current job pays up to $14.75/hour with raises. The JumpStart program pays $12/hour with an additional $1000 scholarship with the program’s completion (assuming you get enough hours in).
