^Haha, that is awesome. Also, what does DD or DS mean?

just trying to show that you weren’t serious… what’s sad is that parents actually do come and rave ‘elite this’ and ‘elite that’ to us students in the college life forum.

tmanneopen: google

how about you answer his question instead of asking him to google a two letter acronym which will come up with thousands of pages that don’t even relate to what hes asking. Cards on the table, I don’t know what those mean either but they have something to do with son and daughter

thank you NJSoccer

↑↑ what does “DD” and “DS” mean?

DD and DS mean Darling Son and Darling Daughter.

Wait, reverse that. DD = Darling Daughter and DS = Darling Son.

Oh and Googling is usually a good suggestion except when the search term is only two letters long. I just did a search and found that DD actually means, “E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company”. Not exactly useful, is it?

what does “bump” mean? when people are chancing someone, they just say “bump” and i have no idea what that means
also what does FWIW mean?

“A LAC–a college where coddled rich white kids place the ‘high’ in ‘higher education.’”

um this is not necessarily true because I was accepted to (and will be attending) a libreal arts college and I am not even close to being a “coddled rich white kid;” i am the complete opposite of that, in fact

FWIW - For What It’s Worth (dang, that’s a pain to type!)

Usually, on Internet forums, if someone JUST types the word “bump” they’re trying to push the thread to the top of the page because not enough people are replying. I can’t think of any other contexts where the word “bump” is used though (maybe saying that your stellar ECs (extracurricular activities) will give you a “bump” while applying to Utica?)

You’re the complete opposite? You’re a neglected poor black adult?

pretty much. except for the adult part

So you’re not the complete opposite!

haha wow. ok i am a liar. i am not the COMPLETE opposite. I am the ALMOST opposite. <- doesnt really make sense but who cares really. my point is that not every one who goes to a liberal arts college is a coddled rich white kid, but then you already knew that.

LAC = A place to get a degree that doesn’t mean anything!

So if you want to go waste a ton of money and get nothing in return and hang out with a bunch of crazy extreme tree-hugging liberals, go to a LAC. If this sounds like you, Wesleyan in Connecticut may be a perfect fit.

SLight manifesto:

haha or go to NYU or Brown? just kidding

@logic - since when are those the only “good degrees”…most people in universities also study the liberal arts. and as a science major, I think a large research university is usually a better idea than a small liberal arts college which may not offer research opportunities. If I were studying humanities, I would be a lot more open to attending a LAC.

and of course not everyone who goes to an LAC is a coddled white kid. But most people just go to the local state U, so private colleges have the reputation of getting rich white kids by self-selection, and LAC’s seem to have that reputation even more than ivies. I guess because a lot of them have that New England prep school vibe and cost so much. Nothing to get offended by, it’s a joke.

“A LAC–a college where coddled rich white kids place the ‘high’ in 'higher education.”

i go to a top five liberal arts college and i would say this is spot-on

I go to HYPMS and am jealous of LAC kids. Seems like a good experience. My school is absolutely BRUTAL. Little time to socialize, have fun, or just be a college student. We’re all too busy figuring out what we’ll do after college.

BUMP stands for “BUMP Up My Post.”
