we are trying to set up a college visit within two departments of the college my son will be attending. I’ve contacted the lead professors/advisor; we’ve emailed a few times trying to set up times; but she hasnt responded now for 13 days.
i’m getting impatient as i want to set this up on days he’s out of school (coming up).
should i contact her again? try the admissions rep? should i call? i do not want to be a pest. but 13 days seems . . . slightly rude i guess. thots? give it to me straight up
Have you tried calling the main number for the relevant department to see the best way to achieve your goals? In my experience, admins often are knowledgeable about how things work and what faculty are able to offer; they may be able to coordinate meetings. Many schools have just started a new semester in the last 2 weeks, making for a busy time. All of this may vary significantly by school or department.
Good luck!
Has your son tried calling? Maybe they don’t want to talk to Mom or Dad.
mathmom; well, no he hasn’t called. I hadnt even thought of that actually; he’s so busy at school/work/etc; but since today he has a snow day, i think i’ll encourage him to do so.
I know many professors who make it a policy not to talk to parents. I don’t blame them. Professors have MORE than enough on their plate and they don’t need to add talking to parents when their students can’t be bothered to contact them themselves.
