On this website I read a lot about the great things UCF has to offer and how awesome the school is, and I agree with the statements. However, seldom do I hear of the bad things about UCF. I'm 100% sure I'm going to attend I just would like to know; what sucks about UCF?

I really don’t think there is anything really bad at UCF at all, unless you consider your personal preferences. I know some people prefer the traditional college atmosphere, like FSU, compare to the modern campus, like UCF. The dorms are bit more pricey and if you are a hospitality major, then you would have to drive about 35-40 minutes between the Rosen College of Hospitality and the main campus. Then there can sometimes be traffic in the area. That is really all I can think of right now.

Sooo weird you started this , cause i was thinking the same exact thinggg !!

the terrible graduation rates

4-Year Graduation Rate: 35%
6-Year Graduation Rate: 64%

It’s extremely easy to get into and so many people go there. SO many kids from my HS are going, I’d never go because it’s just going to be high school all over again.

Last time I checked, they are the second-highest university in terms of student population. I don’t see how that can say anything good about the school except they just want/take anybody and everybody.

^ LOL extremely easy to get into, i don’t think so. i know of people that got flat out denied with 28 ACTs and 3.8 GPAs, last time i checked those were really good stats.

There’s probably something fundamentally flawed with those people that you know then. Something that caused them not to get in (obviously).

I know people with 3.1/2-ish GPAs and 1000-1100 SAT (M+CR) that get in. Basically I’m surprised that some of the people who get in, get in. I don’t know if you’re from Florida or not but it’s one of the easier ones to get in to, aside from schools like FAU, FGCU, etc.

There’s nothing flawed with them. It is a simple concept: gaining admission to UCF gets harder every year and it is not like it used to be. The average for last year was a 3.9 GPA, 1250 SAT (M+CR), and a 27 ACT. That is a lot more competitive than a LOT of colleges. Yeah there are a few people who get in with low scores, but that doesn’t mean they let anyone in.

I mean graduation is more of the students fault in my eyes haha. If you choose to slack off and not do any work, your not gunna graduate. lol. And I dont see their acceptance rate as a problem. Its like at 46% or something and its decreasing every year haha. Im talking about more along the lines of the campus and student life. Like are the people rude? Are the professors unhelpful? Stuff like that. Thanks :)

@seni0r Great minds think alike :D

UCF is an absolute joke to get into. At least for in state. I don’t know a single person IRL who’s been denied or deferred.

-huge school
-expensive over other state U’s
-parking can be a hassel
-large(in the sense of people and meeting them for the shy ones out there)
-quality of some programs
-not as prestigeous in state or as well esablished
-U. Cant. Finish.
-Under. Construction. Forever.
-some people feel its a degree mill

those were the ones off the top of my head that I’ve heard. luckily there are many benefits to attending as well as the fact most other in state schools suffer from these problems. plus most can be alleviated/ prevented

ahhw great mindss ! thank you !

I mean it really comes down to what you make of it. If you come in thinking its okay then anything that exceeds expectations is awesome as opposed to goin to a hyped up school and hating it hahaha

Basically, that.

Also, like others have said, if you are a Florida resident, it is almost impossible to get denied.

-The number of students
-Not very close to the beach

I haven’t actually visited so that is about all I can say.

horrible parking even though it’s $88 for a yearlong parking pass

I attended orientation 2 months before school started. The degree program that was explained thoroughly in this orientation was NOT the one I ended up on. The program was changed and I didn’t find out about this until it was too late. I am now being forced into 8 extra classes with no financial or advisor help. The advisor has changed twice over the past year so no one knows what I’m talking about and can’t help. Watch out for degree changes! Apparently 2 months ahead of time wasn’t enough in advance for them to provide the advisor with the correct degree program? U. Can’t. Finish is so true :/

I feel like every college is going to have some flawed aspects. However, I have the same mindset for every school, no matter the difficulties of getting in: You get out of college what you put into it. If you slack off, and don’t attend many classes, bomb the tests ‘You can’t finish’ is going to be a slogan you know all too well. If you put in the effort, actually care about the education, you will be able to finish. I suppose it’s all based on preference.

To the poster who stated there must have been something wrong with the individual rejected, I know him personally. 28 ACT, good GPA, captain of varsity football team, varsity basketball, and in the top 50 in the nation for track. Never in trouble with the law, as well as in school. He was an ideal canidit, and he didn’t get accepted. I also know an individual with a 27 ACT, and 3.8 Unweighted GPA, who was rejected from fall-not even offered summer. UCF is not an easy school to gain acceptance to. I read somewhere that about 20,000 freshmen apply, and there’s only 8,000 spots open. Easy? I disagree immensely.

Looking at some of your past posts, you’re not from Florida so I’m assuming this person that you’re referring to isn’t either (also, I saw that you’re from Sarasota which is where I’m from as well ), and in that case, the consensus that UCF is easy to get into doesn’t apply. There is no school in the US that is as easy to get into as an easygoing in-state school. If a Florida resident doesn’t get into UCF and they’re an average HS student, there is something wrong. I don’t know of anybody that can’t get in…

I didn’t know you were talking about OOS because that certainly is a different story. Obviously they can’t be as accepting across the entire US as they are in FL. But trust me, your average Joe Florida resident can get into UCF no questions asked.

They ALSO had Florida pre paid, and is classified as a resident. The one with the 27 ACT, I mean, which is odd to me. I saw no reason they shouldn’t gain acceptance. I suppose we’ll never know, what goes on behind admissions. Ah, Sarasota all the way! I miss it so much there-they have the best beaches, I loved the keys and lido:)

UCF was pretty easy to get into before, but I don’t think it is now. If you get accepted to UCF, you’d probably get accepted to pretty much every school in Florida. Maybe not UF though.
