this type of thread was stolen from the Northwestern group, but it is a question that I have for Vandy. Vandy sounds like an amazing school academically with a great location, great weather, and a great social life. What are some disadvantages of attending Vanderbilt?

By the way, how is Vandy's Physics department? the mechanical engineering department?

both departments are solid. both are very hard and rigorous. If you focus hard in them, you many see a little bit of the weather outside of the library/dorm/classroom.

thanks...i figure physics might be easier because it has less requiered courses...i love physics, but I really want to take many cool humanities/social sciences classes in college.

definitely. I thought I didn't want to take any more of those classes in hs (I'm engineering), but after one year, I really do miss taking humanities. I'm actually glad that I chose vandy engineering since I can take those classes.

yeah, i think i heard vandy offers the most humanities classes to it engineers.
wow...no one can seem to find anything wrong with Vandy. It really seems like one of the most balanced top schools out there.

Ugly boys I hear! lol yea vandy rocks though.

The guys are good-looking at Vandy, although not on the same level as the girls. But the guys are still better looking than most - if not all - other top 20 schools.

Disadvantages: Any negative stereotype you've heard about Vanderbilt is true to a point; after all, all stereotypes have some (not matter how much or how little) basis in fact.

I've heard it's rather preppy in a southern kind of way. Heard similar things about Emory.
