Whats BU like?

Is BU a place where people go and study hard or do they just party it up in Boston?

I read somewhere that BU students dont really have a lot of school pride? Is that true?

Is it a college atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong to a community? or is it the type of city college where the kids dont really feel connected, the type of place where they dont feel like a unified college but more like a bunch of kids who go to school in a city who go club hopping when most other college kids would be at a frat? (hard to explain my question, I’ve heard a lot of ppl from New York describe NYU and Columbia that way)

BU has a little bit of everything. I love it because it has the state school size, but a private school feel. There's something for every kind of student and person.

We def. do. Everyone is crazy for Terriers hockey. Plenty of people support and cheer for other teams too. At orientation, the head basketball coach and two of the best players came to welcome us and everyone went crazy. It's very different because we dont have a great basketball team and we dont have a football team anymore (i'm changing that...). But yes, people love BU and are proud to be Terriers. I know I am.

It's not as communal as most schools because for the most part, Boston is the campus. I'm pledging at my friend's fraternity, so I guess i'll get the 'closeness' feel. As I said, it's a little of everything, but for the most part people arent always at school. People are out exploring and such.

Hope that helped.

youll find all kinds of people. there are 18000 undergrads. but from my experience, most of us study hard on weekdays and party hard on weekends.

TONS of school pride! terrier hockey is insane, people wait in line for tickets 2 hrs in advance, and the cheering section is unbelievable. im a huge hockey fan, and anyone who goes to BU becomes one after going to a game.

i feel like im part of a community. people give bu so much crap for being a "city" school, but they forget that BU owns almost all of comm ave. when youre walking around on campus, you will only see BU students and faculty. i feel like BU is a total community, and there's plenty of frats to go to, and clubs are expensive sometimes so people dont go as often, i find, but ive been to a few clubs in the past couple of years
