What's considered a "good" score on the SAT II's?

anything above 700? anything above 750?

Takes this as you will: I have heard MIT doesn't care about your scores as long as they are over 700. I don't know about other colleges though.

A score over 750 is good enough for ANY college, and nothing over 700 would tip the scale between acceptance and rejection. My science 710 got me in! (and my lit 780 and math2 800) I've seen people accepted with 650-700 range scores, but I don't remember if they "compensated" elsewhere in the app or not. Anyway, mathwiz is probably right.

That cant be right.... I dont imagine anyone with a mere 700 is of MIT quality

I know, I can't imagine how I passed everything freshman year with my 700 Math Reasoning Score.

Admissions made a mistake, and I was saved by a miracle. Praise the Lord.

For math, 750+...
For science, 700+
Other subject, MIT doesn't care (really) unless if you have 750+, the admissions people will be impressed

Haha, Laura, and if you are a miracle, think of me -- I only got a 690 on math reasoning! It's shocking, really.

Anything above a 750 is viewed the same. After a certain point, it's clear you're qualified.

That being said, in the regional meetings, we were told that 700+ puts you in the competitive range.

Well Mollie, you're clearly not of MIT quality anyway. Why don't you just go to Harvard instead?

I mean....oh wait...

OK I think I've made my point. I'll stop now. =)

On a serious note, Olo is right- I remember being told the exact same thing by our dear friend Matt McGann- 700+ is good. This, of course, does not mean that below 700 is necessarily bad. MIT is not stupid- they know that not acing a test doesn't mean YOU'RE stupid.

I heard if you get below a 650 on an SAT they track you down and flay your skin for wasting their time.

(JOKE! Mollie's boyfriend got in with a 430 writing score... back when it counted!)
