What's different applying as a transfer

First here are my stats:

COLLEGE STATS
Current college GPA as of this semester: 3.419
Amount of college units completed (semester): 53.8
Amount of units in progress for Spring 2010: 16
Grade Level: 2nd smester Sophmore
Grade Level upon transfering: 1st semester/quarter Junior
General Education pattern completed: California State University GE & IGETC Pattern
Highest degree by May 2010: Associate of Arts, Administarion of Justice (Minor: Political Science)

What I'm mainly wanting to know is what is going to go differently for the transfer admission process than when I was applying as a freshman out of high school? Will I even need to submit high school information?

Based on thos stats what are my chances of getting into an Ivy League School, Stanford, or Santa Clara University or even Clark Atlanta?

the only ones i see happening would be santa clara and clark atlanta. i don’t think you’re competitive enough for stanford or ivies, though if you really want, i’d say apply to cornell as your reach cause you never know. but i wouldn’t waste your time with the rest. what about some other schools? you’re gpas not bad, it’s just not stanford/ivy material.

You almost certainly wouldn’t be able to get into any schools other than Santa Clara. The other schools you mentioned take people with, on average, a 3.7-3.8 college GPA. Save your money and apply to Santa Clara. You will probably get in there, and it can give you some great opportunities later down the road.

i’m assuming u attend a california comm college, in which case ur GPA is absolutely horrible and you have no chance whatsoever on any ivy league school or stanford. Cal State seems to be the perfect match for you.

lakerforever, thats quite harsh and irrational, a 3.4 is not “absolutely horrible” though it is true of your attitude, and I love how you immediately believe a Cal State is a perfect match for this person, as if you know him/her. You seem to be a perfect match for the CSU system in my opinion, how typical. Anyway, freakylocz, most colleges will not rely on your HS transcripts because you have more than 30 units, just as long as you graduated. Stanford is hard and almost impossible for anyone even if you have a 4.0…I believe you would have a good chance at Clark Atlanta, and many if not all CSU’s.
SCU has an acceptance rate of 49% according to their website so I think you would have a good chance there as well. In any case you’ll never know if you don’t try.

I’m not offended the CSU system isn’t terrible in my hometwon SJSU is a leader in engineering prograsm for example.

I’ve been admitted to every single public school CSU and UC I’ve applied to but given the budget cuts they are experiencing a private school like Santa Clara seems attractive.

Also I just got into University of the Pacific.

i don’t think it’s fair to say, assume or chance ANYONE like it’s an absolute. We are not the adcoms here. freakylocz14, i don’t know your full stats, but you might be involved in something extraordinary or admirable that might actually make you an excellent applicant - we’ll never know.

please don’t take the chances to heart - if you really want to apply to some ivy leagues, go for it. 3.4 isn’t hopelessly terrible or anything. I’ve heard that Columbia GS has its own unique method of evaluation.

All the best to you, congrats on your admission to Uni of the Pacific.

Congratulations on getting into those CSU’s, Pacific, and UC’s.
