I'm going into college as an undecided major. At first, I thought about journalism, but I'm not sure if it would be possible for me to major in it considering the program I'm in at my school. I'm taking Environmental Science first semester, and the course description seems really interesting. When I looked into it further and read up on what it takes to be an Environmental Science major, a lot of the required classes also seem very interesting.

So for any ES majors out there, what do you like about the subject? Is there a lot of hands-on type work, or are there a lot of writing/political aspects to it?

I posted a similar question a few months back, maybe it would help answer some of your questions: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/science-majors/942610-environmental-science-major-questions.html

From what I have heard, it is still work, but the major is very interesting, with varying degrees of geology, biology, and ecology, as well as political focuses, depending on which route you take. There is a policy side to environmental issues, and then there is the science/engineering side. Really, take a look at that post.
