What's Everyone Listening To

I'm used to hearing that. It sucks because I can never get any of my friends to want to go to any of my favorite band's concerts other than the warped tour. Even if you don't like the music, the moshpits and bodysurfing is soooo fun.

yeah, tell them to go just for the experience :p...that's why I might go to Ozzfest...although I listen to him sometimes, he's kinda harsh-sounding for me

metallica = fade to black

woo hoo for 5'1 asian girls who play video games and rock out to metallica!!!!!!! haha im such a dork. and yes i like programming. and no I don't want to go to MIT.

skid row - 'I remember you'

(playing the solo right now :D )

Grateful Dead- "Sugar Magnolia"

Does anyone here like Bollywood music? i know its usually Indians who like...just takin a guess though that some of u guys too might have heard some Bollywood songs

No, I abhor Bollywood. It's just representative of the very skewed notion that Indians have of America (or should I say Umrika). Bollywood imitates American pop culture and gives Indians the wrong idea of America. And it gives Indian-American kids the wrong idea of their heritage.
Bollywood culture I find very unpalatable. All Bollywood movies feature scantily dressed girls dancing around fields with macho men, and the plot centers around some silly love triangle or some gunfight. It's a pitiful imitation of American film. I'd rather see an intellectual film, learn something about my culture, which doesn't need any of the "cool dood" stuff to make it enjoyable.

Sorry to sound so mean, I'm not making fun of your taste in music. Most Indian parents would consider MY music abhorrent, since I listen to heavy metal/rock. But the thing is, I don't participate in that culture. The problem with Bollywood is, the music is inseparable from the state of mind.

NOT TRUE!!! The modern Bollywood films are very original... just c "BluffMaster" "Swades" "Lakshya" and u'll know... The songs are now tooooooooooo good...I don't know what i'll do without bollywood in the US

Bollywood music now is COMPLETELY diff from what it was 5yrs back!!! its really very good now...its got the perfect fusion of Rock and Classical...don't u just love hummin to the tunes of "My dil goe hmmmn" or "Pona Barha Baje"

Sure, they're great tunes...but then I watched Bride and Prejudice...and went into a coma. :)

Well... i guess there has to be atleast one pathetic movie from Bollywood, or else we would be too good.. and thast not achievable in the film world :D

bollywood's pretty lame... they first steal the name right off Hollywood. Then they steal half the stories... and most of the movies are based on 'pyar' (love) Most of the stories seem to be copied over and over again... How crappy is that??? worst of all, the indian public wants only that kinda ****. As for their music, personally, I HATE IT. HOWEVER, i'm not saying it's bad. And ya, jimbob, rock rocks

oh ya, jimbob - u seem to know a lot about bollywood - u Indian?

and since this forum's about music, i wanna address another problem I'm ABSOLUTELY SICK OF (just trying to let the frustration out):
I was working out at the gym today, when they started playing Alice Cooper's 'Poison' - u may hav heard it, great song. But this time, it wasnt Alice Cooper's Poison. It some a$$hole remixer's poisoned version of poison. And It sucked. Damn.. and when i heard it I almost dropped the weight on my foot.

And then arguably THE MOST ABUSED ROCK SONG OF ALL TIME: the final countdown - by Europe. You hear the trumpet tune everywhere. At times in stupid commercials, and sometimes even in Bollywood movies (I remember another one where they ripped the Jurassic Park track straight off the soundtrack... and it played throughout the movie)

Why are these songs abused like this? WHY????? Why cant people be original????????? (applies especially to Bollywood)

woot
btw metallic...is it just wishful thinking or are you a METALLICA MANIAC like i am :P haha i really am a dork

and yes, i am indian...i do indian dance, i play an indian instrument, my parents really deeply wish i could go to MIT (they've kinda given up on my going though...not exactly the place for prelaw majors eh? so my little sis is going to be forced to fulfill that wish), and i hate bollywood really bad.

I am a METALLICA MANIAC. But I equally love other rock bands...

and bollywood, they've also got a few good films... I liked lagaan. as for bride and p, I had to read the book for IB english and couldnt even stand 3 mninutes of the movie, so ya, i guess i only saw 3 minutes.

woot yeah i like some new stuff...deftones, static-x, some slipknot, rammstein, tool...?

yeah... i pretty much love almost all of the old stuff and some new ones... but most of the new stuff is just crap. Rammstein, slipknot, tool - they're pretty cool.
